Black and Tan

The quintessential black and tan is made by pouring half a glass of Bass Ale and gently adding Guinness Draught over the back side of a spoon so that the Guinness floats on top of the Bass. Rumor has it that the name came about from the colors of the British police officers uniforms when they were stationed in Ireland. A half and half is made using Harp and Guinness.  You can make a black and blue with Guinness over a blueberry ale. The list goes on. Some American brewers make black and tan in a bottle.
